＂Comparative Study of Chinese and Western Philosophy Zhang Dai-Nian** [Abstract] This article is recorded from Professor Zhang Dai-nian‘s lecture in the..Comparative Philosophy. Series, held at Peking University. It was included in the compilation New Comparisons Between Chinese and Western Philosophies & Cultures - Peking University Lectures. The article outlines a clear and profoundly simple method for comparing Chinese and Western philosophical systems, addressing aspects including thought mode, ontology, fundamental philosophical categories, human/nature comparisons, relations between subject and object, practical ethics, etc. Professor Zhang has studied Chinese Philosophy for more than half a century, and brings his unique understanding to the theoretical and methodological issues raised by the comparison of these systems. The article is not only useful as an academic resource for students of philosophy, but also as a comparative outline for people interested in further Chinese-Western cultural exchange.
